Between November 2022 and March 2023, Greenhouse Gas Protocol collected stakeholder input via four online surveys on the Corporate Standard, Scope 2 Guidance, Scope 3 Standard, and Market-Based Approaches. Respondents also had the opportunity to submit proposals with suggestions for updating existing standards/guidance or developing new sector-specific guidance. The GHG Protocol secretariat received over 1,400 survey responses and over 230 proposals, with over 150 proposals requesting to be shared publicly. All shared proposals can be viewed online here.

Looking specifically at Scope 2, GHG Protocol received over 400 responses to the Scope 2 Guidance survey and over 70 proposal submissions related to Scope 2. GHG Protocol has analyzed this feedback and is hosting an upcoming webinar on topline findings. GHG Protocol Standards Update Process: Topline Findings from Scope 2 Feedback will be held Tuesday, May 2nd from 11:00am-12:00pm ET.

Participants will have a chance to submit questions for the speakers in advance as well as during the live session. This session will be recorded for those who are unable to join the live session. The initial findings shared in this session will help inform the scoping of updates in consultation with the GHG Protocol’s technical and advisory groups (to be convened). In the future, information about how to participate in the standards update process, as well as the new governance structure, will be shared with GHG Protocol subscribers. ​​​
