Welcome to New Steering Committee and Independent Standards Board Members

GHG Protocol is pleased to announce the membership of its Steering Committee (SC) and Independent Standards Board (ISB). To see the list of members and their bios, please refer to our new governance webpage. The Steering Committee is the primary governing body of GHG Protocol, providing strategic guidance on the overarching goals and direction of GHG Protocol. The Independent Standards Board serves to review and approve GHG Protocol standards, guidance, and other normative documentation.  

Announcing Technical Working Group Members

GHG Protocol is delighted to share the membership of our four Technical Working Groups (TWGs). Read the full announcement here. All members are listed on our new governance webpage. The Technical Working Groups play a key role in developing the technical content of the updated GHG Protocol standards and guidance in collaboration with the GHG Protocol Secretariat. Please note that GHG Protocol continues to accept new TWG applications on a rolling basis.

Live Now: New Governance Document Repository  

In tandem with the announcement of the SC, ISB and TWGs, GHG Protocol has created a new document repository to host materials related to GHG Protocol’s governance and the standards update process.  

Documents that are now live in the document repository are:  

Forthcoming documentation includes a Standards Development & Revision Procedure document, a Code of Conduct document and a Concerns and Complaints Procedure document. Please note that Annex 1 to the Governance Overview of decision-making criteria and hierarchy is also forthcoming.  

In Case You Missed It: Emissions Accounting to Accelerate Decarbonization Recording

GHG Protocol’s Michael Macrae, Director of Scope 2, participated in NYU’s Emissions Accounting to Accelerate Decarbonization Conference during New York Climate Week as a speaker on the panel “State of the Art in Emissions Accounting.” The conference was hosted by the Institute for Policy Integrity at NYU Law and the Tandon School of Engineering’s Sustainable Engineering Initiative and covered best practices for measuring the clean energy content or carbon dioxide emissions linked to a particular unit of electricity consumption. GHG Protocol Director, Pankaj Bhatia, participated in the Value Change Initiative’s Net Zero Value Chains event during New York Climate Week. Pankaj served as a speaker on the panel “Shaping Scope 3: Value Chain Interventions and EACs in Regulatory and Standard Evolution.” If you weren’t able to tune into the live event, you can watch Pankaj’s panel here.
