Director of Scope 2 & Senior Advisor on Impact Accounting
Working with the secretariat team from WRI and WBCSD, Michael leads the stakeholder process to update the GHG Protocol Scope 2 standards. He is a senior advisor on the development of appropriate accounting solutions for inventory and intervention accounting methodologies and the establishment of guidance for implementing such methodologies in reporting programs and target-setting initiatives.
Prior to joining WRI, Michael worked with Enel North America, leading the development of Enel’s market advocacy strategy for New England and New York, supporting the growth of Enel's existing and new Distributed Energy Resources, Renewable and Storage Resources, Demand Response, and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure solutions across the NY-ISO & ISO-NE wholesale markets as well as the various state regulatory agencies and related retail markets. Prior to Enel, Michael worked with Harvard University, managing wholesale and retail energy market programs as well as overseeing the University's regulatory air compliance program and GHG inventory program.
Michael earned his PhD in Chemistry from UCSD and currently lives in the Boston area with his family.
